2002 Pontiac Grand Am review from North America

Well we had the normal "clicking noise" everyone keeps complaining about on-line, where it sounds like your turn signal keeps clicking every once in a while -- well it's because it is -- it's the switch on the left of the steering column. Here's how I fixed it -- I sprayed a healthy amount of electrical contact cleaner right into where the turn signal lever goes into the steering column. I moved the lever around in all the directions it goes into for a few minutes to clean all the contacts in there and it's never clicked since -- been about a year and half now.

95,000 the ignition coil pack went out, had to have it replaced. Was stupid enough to agree to a change at a shady looking shop that charged me $250 withuot telling me the part they put in was USED.. I never asked and just assumed for THAT MUCH it'd be new. Oh well!

This engine seems like a really great engine, but over all IMO the car is much too heavy for something this small.

The transmission does shift very smoothly though -- as it rams in and out of gears working that poor little 1.8 liter half to death. Probably why it gets such lousy gas mileage. Our '92 (10 years older!) Volkswagen Fox was still getting 35-38 MPG average just before it finally died -- so an engine this much newer, with all this newly fine tuned technology / it gets 10-15 MPG WORSE gas mileage?! How's this work again?
