1989 Pontiac Grand Am LE review from North America
"A quick, reliable, fun car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first got it, I put a new (50k miles) engine in the car. I did this because I bought it off my brother.
As far as I can remember, I've had this done to it:
Replaced heater core.
Put on a straight pipe (no catal conv)
Odometer/trip rarely works, I gain
like 5 miles a month at best.
Occasionally power steering squeeks.
Pain on hood peeled badly, but
repainted myself.
New alternator (twice)
The service engine soon light (blaze
orange) comes on at random, almost on
constantly.
Engine "gurgles" really loudly.
I'm sure I've left out lots of stuff,
for this is the second car I've ever
had (first being a 88 grand am)
General comments?
A fairly quick car, that is very reliable. It's gets great mileage (35/g) and until now (june 2002) holds up extremely well. I've had this car since I was 17, and almost praise it. I hope to have this car much longer, and never plan on selling it. I'd rather take it to a demo derby than think of another person driving it, heh.
feel free to email me if you have the same car, I'd love to talk to a fellow grand am owner
