The first week I had my Grand Am it had to be towed into the dealership for the ignition wiring to be replaced. Every time you hit the break there is a thumping noise that comes from the rear end; the dealership charged us $131.00 to clean and adjust the brakes, a week latter it started making the same noise and the dealership said it was nothing. The alternator and serpetine belt had to be replaced, the belt is very hard to replace too. When ever I hit 50 miles per hour the car starts to jerk; if your driving for over an hour and exceed 60 miles per hour the car will sound like it is in neutral and your foot is on the gas and the miles will just drop. I also had to replace the hose it cracked and antifreeze started spilling out of it. I put a sound system in my car and it made my parking lights, fog lights, and tail lights fuse keep blowing. My air conditioner went out, and my floor in the front and in the trunk leaks, but I cannot find where it is coming from.
I will never buy a Grand Am agian, I will probally never buy a Pontiac again.
The car is quick, but only when it wants to be.
The only thing the car is good for is sitting still looking pretty.
It is a very nice looking car, inside and outside.
The car is a major lemon almost as bad as Fords.
I believe that the car in question was driven hard and not looked after. As I have purchased a 1995 and it is a great all around car have put a sound system in the car with no problems.
