2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE2 review from North America

There was a vibration in the steering wheel at highway speeds.

Made "clunking" noise when turned steering wheel. I suspect the vibration in steering wheel was caused by something in the front end and that vibration eventually loosened up the steering linkage.

Knob for the defrosters and vents broke off.

I found the vibration when I drove the car home after purchasing it. I had to bring the car in to the dealer four separate times and they still couldn't figure it out. When I contacted the manufacturer their response was "try another dealer". Another dealer couldn't fix it either. That was a big surprise.

Took them to arbitration, won every argument. I just got my money back from GM last week. It only took two years!

I will never buy a GM product again.

I still am not sure if the dealers are retards or if the car was just built wrong. I've heard of lots of people having problems with the brakes in this car and it's siblings like the Oldsmobile Alero.

I suggest to anyone else that has a problem like this with their car to take them to arbitration. The Better Business Bureau has a program called Autoline that most manufacturers participate in and the arbitration is binding on the part of the manufacturer, but you have the option to reject the arbitrators decision. The only way they are going to provide better service if if they keep losing money by having to buy back their pieces of junk.
