"Low performance Melon"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When I first bought the car a year ago, I had to put $1,300 into it after the mechanic also made the comment it looked like there were a lot of new parts in it. The usual things needed replacing such as the brakes and the serpentine belt. The exhaust then went. Now for the biggie... the drivers side window goes up and down when it feels like it and doesn't go down all the way. Workers in fast food restaurants often wonder why I'm squeezing a hand through a window not rolled down all the way and the drive thru teller at the bank must really think I'm bonkers. The window thing just started happening a few weeks ago and it is really starting to upset me. Now I go to start my car this morning and I put my foot on the brake and turn the key and it starts and dies. I put my foot on the gas instead and it stays running. You go to drive down the street and I feel like It's going to die any minute. The engine sounds like it's going to pop out of the car it's been so loud the last couple of days. I checked all my fluids and they are all fine. I'm sick of going to mechanics as they see a woman coming and all they see is dollar signs and find the worst thing wrong they can find and then there are still problems with it. I really wouldn't recommend anyone buying this car for it's looks or comfort. Granted the car is up there in miles, but come on!!! Windows not going up and down? The windows have a shorter life span than the engine. What's wrong with this picture?

OK, that guy that commented on your situation should just hush if he has nothing nice to say. I, too bought a 1995 grand am gt LEMON it was horrible... windows leaked, brakes consistently had to be repaired or replaced, engine knocked, and the biggest... this is lovely... i had to replace the transmission TWICE. The transmission went out a third time and I finally, against my better judgment, bought a 2002 grand am GT and its wonderful so far...I've had it a year and a half and 20k miles. If your finances would allow it, I'd suggest updating your car a little. good luck!

OK, dig this, I own a 95 Grand AM GT Quad 4dohc, and I'm telling you this baby runs like its new, it always starts up perfectly, purrs like a cat and for being a Quad 4 this thing has quite a bit of pick up. Granted I take care of it, changing the oil at every 2,500 miles, consistently washing the undercarriage in the winter and flushing my radiator every year. I tell you that this is by far the best automobile that I've ever owned. It's all about keeping up on the maintenance. If you want your car to run well you need to learn how to take care of it yourself. My car has 113,000 miles on it and it runs like the day it was bought off the lot. I have replaced a few things to make sure that things don't go wrong in the future such as my alternator, spark plugs, tensioner puller and air hoses and belts, but those are minor because with those things out of the way now I'm on to putting ground effects and window tint with a new stereo system. Also have new tips on my dual exhaust. All in all this car is great I think you should have a friend teach you how to do these normal tune up things and you'll be fine as long as you don't beat on your car like so many people do. Remember that in the winter starting your car and putting it into drive right away will eat your gas and might even crack your engine block.

I also have a Pontiac Grand Am GT 1995. I got it 1 year ago and it is still running great. I have had a few small problems with it, but nothing that no other car hasn't had.

For the lady at the top, try taking care of it better and in the end you work of maintenance will pay off.

That car has won me a lot of races and is still running strong as the day I bought it. I would never choose a different car.

I also own a 95 Grand Am GT, and man that red can run. I just started using it for racing and I think it's so fun embarrassing those other sport cars like the Camaros and especially the Mustangs. They ain't got nothing on my GT. I've had these car for three years and it still runs good. No comment.

I have a 95 Pontiac Grand Am GT that I had to put another motor in. It is green with tinted windows and 17 inch rims. It is a good car overall, but I will be trading it in as soon as I finish school and get a job.
