2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT review from North America
"Ashamed to call it my car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Brakes and rotors had to be replaced at 17,000 miles.
At 6,500 miles the paint began bubbling and flaking off.
At 7,000 miles water was leaking on the passenger floorboard due to improperly installed shield.
At 10,000 miles the engine started fluctuating between 200 and 1000 RPM while driving on the interstate.
Problem has yet to be corrected.
At 15,000 miles the cruise control failed.
At 30,000 miles the fuel gage failed.
At 40,000 miles the intake manifold gasket failed.
The steering wheel has faded badly and is starting to come apart.
The buttons and knobs on the radio are peeling.
General comments?
Originally I was impressed with the styling and performance of the vehicle.
However; since I purchased the vehicle it has been in the shop 18 times for various mechanical problems.
The quality of this vehicle is very poor. I cannot recommend this vehicle to anyone who plans on keeping it for more than a year or two.
