1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE review from North America
"This beast won't even play dead let alone quit"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Both windows have come off the track.
Rear defroster shorts out.
Three of four speakers have blown.
Gas cover cable stretched.
Paint chipping.
Service engine light stays on.
Trunk release cable stretched.
Faulty spark plug wires.
Air conditioner doesn't work.
Gas tank gage is inaccurate.
Problems with the torque converter.
Minor oil leaks.
Power door locks short out.
Various rattles.
Battery needed to be replaced.
Replaced the muffler.
General comments?
I bought this Grand Am from an old lady who barely ever drove it and to be honest I don't think she ever had the oil changed as my first car and it has served me well.
Through the trials and tribulations on a seventeen year old puts his vehicle through, including a front end collision and a rear end collision, it has held up well. I have beaten this car as hard as anyone could and aside from minor issues it still wrongs strong.
Aside from the fact that the engine won't quit I have had to pour money into the rest of the car over the last three years. Mostly run of the mill small items that add up quickly.
The majority of the major issues seem to stem from the front end collision which was on the corner that the on board computer resides.
And all issues aside I still get a chuckle when I leave a riced-out civic sitting at the line even with my three speed automatic..
In synopsis I love this car and I hope it lasts me another eight years.
