After we have purchase brand new in Feb,1987, than three weeks late, The break shoe pad it is totally 99% wear out! Why? I said! Not even one year yet! Of cause, dealership don't want to replace free! They told us we have to pay them $900 to repair. Well, we take to Midas, they repair lot less only$400 with long term warranty!
In Aug.1999, starting given me Minor leaks of oil fluid.
Than, every other year after I have to start repair lot more things... like timing chain, head gasket, Alternator, radiator, Seats have started to wear, Driver's side manual window wear out, body fender all wear out, two of the window handle gone bad, Cooling system and Headliner and AC replaced once.
Now, I have to repair again, this is the 5 time oil gasket.
The car still has full power, but at almost 150,000 miles, it's showing some age. It is 17 years old! It's sometime been a bit noisy and rattly, but it gets excellent gas mileage, the tires seem to last forever, and it's never let me down.
This was a great commuter car. It had great fuel economy and was pretty quick too.
The seats can hurt your back on long trips. I have always done excellent maintenance on it, using the highest quality materials (synthetic oils, good filters, etc.). Overall, I'm surprised that an American 4-cylinder has made it this far.
My mechanic - who don't care about GM cars - always tells me, "You got the good one."
The car has been faithful, comfortable, reasonably economical, and fun to drive.
I bought it new and it's been kept all these 17 years. It is long running car I ever had!
My Husband want me to give up this car, but some reason I like my faithful car! Not sure why? Hope some one can offend me "Pip-My Ride" or One of them TV show...?!
I sure like to turn this car into showroom class car type!
