2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE review from North America
"I love my car, but they are to computerized"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Within a week, after I bought the car I
had to take it to the dealership to have the brakes fixed, cost me 300.00.
Back of passenger seat has big rip from
a bolt or spring from the inside of the seat.
I have had the car for 3 years and I have replaced front brakes and rotors twice.
The timing chain tensioner broke and the engine blew pistons thru the valves, so needless to say there goes $1,000.00 for a new motor, 2002 only good point.
Air conditioning went out and can't find the problem there.
The gas tank is another fun problem, car was hit by a deer (with a vengaence), knocked the whole back bumper off, no big deal right, wrong sat for two weeks cause it wouldn't start, was told to hit gas tank with hammer, so I let my husband do that, car started right up been driving ever since until now.
Here"s the kicker of them all, I've changed the front brakes and rotors twice already and I forgot front wheel bearings at $120.00 a piece, and here we go to put on new brakes, front of course and now I have no brakes, so here we go $100.00 master cylinder, and still doesn't fix the problem.
And lets not forget the radio sound knob you turn it down it gets louder turn it up and it doesn't do anything.
General comments?
Car is white with gray interior, still looks good even though kids rule the backseats.
Great sound systems for outdoor parties.
I look great driving it, and I love to go on road trips, just to get that Pontiac excitement.
It has awesome power on the interstate, and is good on gas considering I drive 60 miles to work everyday.
Don't get me wrong, ask my husband, I love my Grand Am, I just wish they were easier to work on and not so damn complicated.
Think about it these cars are all sensors here and there and everywhere, and its nothing, but a computer chip, imagine driving down the interstate at 70-75mph and the car just stops cause the computer quits, and why are there so many accidents on our roads today?
