1994 Pontiac Grand Am SE from North America - Comments

"Does the good outweigh the bad?"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Fog lights needed to be replaced.

Both rear lower control arms have collapsed bushings.

Front struts have decompressed.

Right front wheel bearing loosens on bumpy roads.

Factory stabilizers allow too much roll and encourage excessive tire wear.

Exhaust leaks. Resonator goes bad within 6 months.

General comments?

I've put about $900 CDN into the engine of my Grand Am and I can take Grand AM GT's and V6 Mustangs.

There is a factory recall on the head gasket (for those wondering) which the dealer will replace free of charge if notified by GM Canada (you need to call Gm Canada and give them location of dealer).

I hate domestic vehicles.. but this one seems okay.

So would it be the best bet to just get another head gasket or whats the best aproach? Because I just bought this car and that's the only problem with it.

Your best bet would be to do the Head Gasket yourself. It is not a difficult job to undertake. It will cost you about fifty bucks for a new gasket. Obviously you have the additional expense of new oil and coolant. Failing that find yourself a half decent shade tree mechanic who will work for Beer.
