2002 Pontiac Grand Am SE review from North America
"Nice looking car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first got the car in October of 2004, the windshield wipers didn't work. The dealer fixed it and "said" they replaced the wiper motor, but later that day they quit working again for no apparent reason. Again I took it back and this time they said that they replaced the switch. The wipers have worked great since then.
In April of 2005 I had to take the care in again to get it fixed. The horn, and the key-less remote stopped working about the same time. the remote had a broken circuit, and the horn had a busted relay. $85.00 later the horn worked, but the remote still didn't work along with a new list of things, like the dome light, the fog lights, the trunk switch, the electronic door locks, and I'm sure that there was more. The dealer said that the B.C.M. (Body Control Module) had started to fail and that the remote was just the first thing to go (even though there was a chipped circuit next to the remote battery) and that I had to have been experiencing the New list of problems. After 5 days of arguing with the dealer and owner (not including the weekend) I finally gave up and replaced the $250.00 B.C.M.
That would have been all if they hadn't busted the radio, and put the blame on "after market wiring". I'm in the process of getting a lawyer.
General comments?
This car is the best I've ever owned (aside for the dealer heartache).
But it wouldn't hurt if it gave a little more than around 20 MPG city, and almost 30 MPG highway.
