3 months after I bought the car I had to replace the brakes and rotors. I have changed them 4 times now. I have replaced an alternator, water pump, heat/air fan dial doesn't work on 1 and 2 and worst of all I had to change the engine with an engine with 45,000 less miles because mine blew due to head gaskets. Now I have to change a tie rod end that has been going bad for some time now.
I feel with being a single mom of 2 children and one disabled child, I got taken advantage of by Pontiac. I made my payments and now feel that they put a car together as cheap as they could and jacked up the price to make a huge profit. Why should they care about the consumers as long as they get their money. I use to refuse to buy anything, but American made. Now I will never in my life purchase another Pontiac. I use to love them.
You do realize that brakes wear out the same on pretty much every car. They aren't Pontiac brake pads, they're an independent company that has a contract with Pontiac to use them on their new cars. Once you buy the car, use whatever brand you want. So if your brakes wear out easily don't blame the car manufacturer, blame the brake pad manufacturer. Unless your caliper pistons suddenly gained strength, in which case enjoy the shorter braking distances. If you want your brakes to last longer, replace them with better quality ones, or... slow down.
-Radiator, Water pump and Intake Manifold Gasket by 110,000
-Two sets of front strut mounts
-Neutral Safety Switch
-Paint is falling off and the driver’s side rear view mirror adjuster popped out
-Seat cratered and needed practically rebuilt, I am a tall person, but not a heavy one.
-Driver and passenger manual window cranks.
-Rubbery material and cloth pulling away from door panels.
Brakes have been replaced more times than I can count; thankfully I am a backyard mechanic. I do drive hard occasionally, but the brakes on these cars are notoriously small. They have the same size and hub as a Sunfire and weight about 300-400 pounds more.
