Nothing.
The car met or exceeded my expectations in acceleration, handling, mpg, comfort, and general layout of the interior. It's also a looker on the outside. I have not come across anything yet mechanically or otherwise (knock on wood) that leads me to believe this is anything, but a good solid car and that I made a good choice in purchasing it... I had also looked hard at getting a Focus (2005) or the Olds Alero. Focus had better mpg, but sounded like a motorcycle when going through the gears. Alero handled well, but the Grand Am won out as when I got back in the Alero after driving the Grand Am, I noticed the difference. I just felt more stable on the road in the Grand Am. Two things I don't like about the car are 1) When its drizzly/raining outside and the wipers are set to intermittent you get a bead of water running in your line of vision from the left hand side of the drivers wiper. Annoying on a longer drive or when it's hard to see the road as it is. 2) is that you cannot exit the car unless the car is shut off unless you unlock the door manually (Maybe I was spoiled from the Jeep). Again, annoying. I get 30 mpg consistently. I can't gripe about this car. Will see when winter comes how it handles the snow in WI.
The door locks on the Grand AM GT are programmable. You can change the setting to whatever suits you best. Check your owners manual for information on how to change the programmable door lock and unlock settings.
Congrats on as great car. I own a 2001 Grand Am and it is as good as the day it rolled out of the factory. Never a single problem. I've driven lots of cars, and the Grand Am is the absolute best of anything within $10,000 of its price range. We had a Focus ZX-3 and it was a great car too, but not even close to the GA. I've driven the new V-6 Mustang and the Grand Am GT V-6 is definitely more of a performance car with a FAR MORE comfortable ride, and it feels faster to me, probably because it wasn't jarring the fillings out of my teeth while winding up thru the gears.
I had the same annoying windshield wiper problem but all I did was buy better wipers and it went away. I laugh at the spray system though; it sprays ridiculously far sometimes, spraying pedestrians or the car next to me.
