I can relate to no help from GM. I had a 2001 Malibu LS with all kinds of problems, and it seems funny that once the warranty is up they seem to know what is wrong with your car then. I had my Attorney go into the dealership w/me and you would be amazed at how quickly your problem is resolved. The service manager even called a GM rep, and things began to happen. I can see why GM is going bankrupt. If you provide bad service, people will only put up with it for so long. I bought a new Mazda 6 and am very happy with it, the car and service from the dealer.

My 2003 Pontiac Grand AM GT has had more than it's fair share of problems. I have had both front wheel hub assemblies replaced, and I have also had a rocker arm stud come loose. In addition, I have had the brakes replaced several times, and the windows had to be fixed on multiple occasions. Now, it appears another rocker arm stud has come loose. All of this occurred during normal driving conditions, and my vehicle has been regularly maintained. I HIGHLY recommend that you do NOT buy this car.

Well, I'm glad I bought the 2.4 litre 4. It seems all the complaints are due to the V-6. My 4 has run flawlessly for 6 years without a single problem. As for problems that become apparent BEFORE the warranty expires, go to the dealer and get a WRITTEN RECORD that you filed notice with them about the problem. If you do this, they are legally liable for repairing the problem AFTER the warranty expires.

My brother had a suspicious noise in the engine of his Pontiac. He took it to the dealer before the warranty expired, kept the records of his complaint, and when the engine blew up 5,000 miles out of warranty GM HAD to replace the engine free, and did so without any argument. It is VERY IMPORTANT to keep written documentation. Demand that they give you something in writing stating that you brought the car in with a complaint before the warranty expires. If you DON'T do this, you're stuck.
