1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT review from North America
"Poor quality, bad mechnical design"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Regarding popping noise for Grand Am GT. Brought auto into dealer to detect and fix noise in front end. Dealer replaced both wheel bearings and new CV joint which fixed the noise.
From the repair, I now have a popping noise that occurs when I turn the car, more accurately it is a "thud" that occurs occasionally when turning. The noise only comes when turning, not bumps or straight aways. I've heard it can be grease on the pinion, but I don't suspect that.
I suspect it is from the CV joint lateral movement, but dealer assures me that checked it out 3 times took it all apart and still have problem. Brought car back 8 times still problem exists. If anyone can tell me what the problem is please email josephsullivan@gmail.com.
General comments?
Replaced head gasket 60000
replaced water pump 40000
replaced fuel injectors 50000
blew fuse 3 days after vehicle delivery for cruise control.
Expensive tire size.
Problem with anti-lock brakes.
Consider it a bad purchase.
