2005 Pontiac Grand Am SE review from North America
"Fast, sporty, but be careful, it might be too hot to handle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The front headlight seals popped out after one touchless car wash.
The car was making a scraping noise from the front, so we brought it in to the Pontiac dealer, even though we bought it from a rental company.
After waiting the whole day to get the call to go and pick the car up, the shop manager called and told us that the factory warranty is no longer good because this vehicle was in an accident prior to purchase. WHAT?? When we bought the car, the rental dealership did not disclose this info, and they did not want to give us our $3000 down payment back, nor did they want to give us a new car.
We got a lawyer, and after attempting to return the car to the rental dealership, the dealership said it was all false.. our lawyer said we had a strong case so yesterday (5/15/06) we attempted to return the car. They said OK, and we could have any car on either of the used or new lots under a value of 16,000. We picked out a brand new Toyota Corolla, which we love already, unlike our untrusty Pontiac.
Our old 1993 Pontiac Grand Am was great, but not this one. The seats were extremly uncomfortable and everything felt cheaper than our previous Pontiac..
General comments?
I used to love Pontiacs for their power and great style, but after this one, not only was the dealer a crap heap, the car was too.
The seats and the engine was noisy. I still liked the car, but I need reliability which pontiac did not offer. I am truly sorry, as Pontiac make cars like the classics.
The interior was very sporty, as was the car, but cheaply made. Spend more to have a smaller more reliable car than a bigger unreliable car.
I LOVE MY COROLLA.. I put two 7'' inch tv screens on the back seats for the kids, and BAM just as good as a moving movie theater LOL.
