1993 Pontiac Grand Am SE review from North America
"The car has a lot of potential if you want to fix it up"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
-Engine was toast when I bought the car at 257,123km
Replaced engine and began to overhaul car at 257,123km:
-new wheel bearings (front)
-new cv halfshafts
-shocks & struts
-Tie rod ends & ball joints
-control arm bushings.
Most common reliability issues with these cars:
-ignition module (misfire or no spark)
-crank position sensor (no spark)
-hole rusts through firewall, causing water to seep into the car when it rains.
General comments?
The car is pretty damn fast for what it is. If it wasn't for the stock 3 speed transmission it could really burn some rubber.
Very fun to drive, suspension isn't the greatest if you're an aggressive driver.
Seats are very comfortable.
Dash components suck on the SE's, swapped for a GT cluster which includes voltmeter, oil pressur gauge, and tachometer.
Very good acceleration, 0-60km/hr very quick.
