1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE review from North America

"Good, but needs a little help and repair!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Since I bought the '95 Grand Prix in July '06, I've had to replace the starter (twice!), the alternator, and the radiator, 3 new tires. I've replaced front and back brakes, and back rotors. The front brakes were just changed in July and are squeaking again already, though I'm being told they're "fine". The car kept getting stuck in Park, I thought it was the button or shifter= it wasn't! I had to to take the console out and disconnect the safety mechanism that requires you to step on the brake before the car will shift out of Park... I don't have to step on the brake to shift, but my car never gets stuck in park anymore!!

It's been overheating for a few weeks... I had to put antifreeze/water in every other day or so. Then it seemed like it wasn't using the fluid in the reservoir at all. I just got a new radiator put in, it's still overheating, but not as badly. I think only one of the fans is coming on--the A/C fan, because when I turn on the air conditioning, the temperature drops a little, and I can hear the fan come on.

The radio controls in the steering wheel had a short or something because I had to disconnect the wiring--the volume would go to full blast suddenly without warning.

Had to replace the driver side door handle (my fault, actually!). The dome light works sporadically; the lights behind my temperature gage as well.

You have to push REALLY REALLY hard to get the passenger window to go down.

I keep wondering what else is going to go wrong with it!!! Problem after problem it seems!!

General comments?

The body is beautiful! I get comments all the time on it, people always ask if I'd like to sell it.

The interior is nice for its age, smells new still.

Seems to drive well, except for the problems I've had with certain parts, the whole first year I had it, it drove great without a problem.

It does pretty good on gas.

I try to comfort myself by saying that the problems I've had are due to age and that, overall,

it's a good car!!
