2000 Pontiac Grand Prix SE review from North America

"And GM wonders why their stock prices are falling? This car is junk"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Severe transmission shudder. This problem was misdiagnosed several times. First the mechanic replaced electrical components. Then they replaced the fuel injectors. This process continued on for nearly a year until finally they just put in a brand new transmission, which, after only 10,000 more miles, has now started to shudder again. The most difficult part about this problem is that the mechanics have a hard time replicating the shudder, which is a complete mystery to my wife and I since it happens frequently to us.

Our blower motor for the air conditioning has been replaced.

The passenger's side rear window engine only intermittently works.

The hood latch sticks. This is a problem not only when it is stuck open, but also when it denies access to the engine compartment.

General comments?

Although the car is a blast to drive (quick acceleration, great handling, and good gas mileage on the interstate), it has cause no end of problems for my wife and I. Thank goodness for extended warranties with prepaid rental agreements. We actually think that we are the reason our bank changed its warranty policy. The repairs on our Grand Prix have cost the bank around $5000 in less than two years. Unfortunately, our warranty is nearly up and the problems appear to be starting again.
