Had to fix window crank shaft when I first bought it. (It was used)
Pick up coil was burnt. ($20)
Timing belt was too loose and couldn't be tightened. ($30)
Control Module was gone ($90)
Ignition coil was not sparking properly ($50)
All distributor items had to be replaced as the car would not run ($100)
Currently the car is still not running properly although I have spent at least $750 to replace many parts and now the starter is gone and the car chugs when it is running and has no power whatsoever.
This car is good on gas and relatively inexpensive to maintain.
It is expensive to fix repairs as the car is not common and it is hard to find parts.
The engine is not manufactured by GM, they placed and Hyundai Daewoo engine in the car and because it is a foreign product it is expensive to get parts for.
The car is not very easy to fix once it is broken, currently I have had the car for about 4 months and for at least a month of that it has been parked because no one can seen to fix it.
In summary, good on gas, and not too expensive to buy, but lookout on repairs.
I agree with the fact that parts are VERY difficult to find for this car. I own a 1993 Asuna four door, which is the Canadian version of the Pontiac Lemans, and have had serious problems finding major engine components. (I needed to replace a camshaft-my car has over 215000 KM on it.) However, I have found the car to be somewhat reliable, and the 1.6L engine has quite a bit of pickup after some extensive tinkering to the timing. Problems that I have noticed-needed to replace magnetic pick up, brake rotors and pads (wear quickly), oil seals all needed to be replaced (if you don't like leaking cars, be prepared to spend serious $$), rear window handle needed replacing (same problem, crank stripped), and camshaft needed replacement (wasn't performance affecting at my stage, just making undesirable noise). + = Good on gas and peppy.
