1999 Pontiac Montana Extended review from North America
"Expensive to maintain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine coolant leak started 6 months ago. Diagnosed as "upper engine leak". $760.00 to repair.
Transmission "service engine light" came on within 24 hours of "upper engine leak " repair. 72,000 miles. Diagnosed as transmission. Described as a bushing that looked like it shredded. Estimated cost $1800 +. Car should be ready today. Only trailer a small light trailer for approximately less than 1,000 over last 3 years. Oil changes completed timely.
Front driver's side door locks by itself. Have to crawl in through another door. to get in.
Power side door has been fixed three times. Always seems to mysteriously bend a piece that forces the door to bounce back open. Rubber molding around same door comes unglued and falls off.
General comments?
This car is beginning to be like a human body. Once it is opened up more and more things go wrong. For a car driven by one adult, it has not held up. My previous Silhouette was at 109,000 when I sold it and only had the U joints replaced.
