"This car has served me extremely well"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Alternator had to be replaced.

Starter had to be replaced.

Steering linkage wore out.

Power steering pump and hose had to be replaced.

The engine is leaking oil, and I will need to find the source soon to avoid such frequent top-offs.

Water pump developed a leak, and had to be replaced.

General comments?

This has really been an amazing car. I bought it when I started college just to get me there and back. I would have preferred another vehicle; one a little smaller. But the price ($2000.00) was not bad, and the car ran well. Little did I know it would last this long.

I never had any experience fixing cars in the past, but have been able to figure things out on this one. With a manual in hand, it is an easy car to work on.

While it has become more sluggish in its old age, it is still a quick and powerful machine. It glides down the road.

Gas mileage started at about 20 mpg, and has dropped to around 18, which I still consider good.

The car is still on its original engine and transmission.

If you replace the rear main seal in the engine, you will quit loosing oil. I own a 87 and it had the same problem. these are amazing, bulletproof cars. Imports make good "airbags"! Good luck, and happy motoring.
