1999 Pontiac Sunfire GT review from North America
"Ever wonder why there are so many of these cars on used car lots??"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car had transmission noises from the first month of ownership. The Getrag transmission is known to be noisy, but this car had serious scraping and grinding noises which worsened during colder weather.
The clutch at startup made grinding noises until fully warmed up.
General comments?
General Motors would not fix this car and stated that they could not, even though they admitted to a manufacturing defect. I took the company to arbitration (check your owner's manual!) and won my case. GM had to buy the car back from me for a very reasonable price. Side note: The same model car, a 2000, was bought back through the same process at the same dealer, at the same time.
