I bought this 66 Porsche in December of 65. Until this day this is the worst car I've ever driven.
I bought this car in my last year of high school for performance. This Porsche would never go past 70 and did not accelerate like race car. The dealer serviced the whole engine and tuned it up (which was required every 5,000) and still got the same problem.
At 12,000 miles it was stuck in 3rd gear and the dealer fixed it, and got stuck in 3rd again at about 15,000 when I got rid of the car.
The heater would never get hot.
Back in 67 when I traded it in, I saw a leak from the front axle.
I will never get another Porsche, plus these days they are way too expensive, and I know they are worth much less and have much less performance than what Porsche says.
So let me get this straight, you wrote a review last week on a car that you owned 41 years ago? Clearly you had a very serious problem if the car did not go over 70mph, like it was running on 3 cyl?, and clearly you have not driven a proper one since or you would not claim that Porsche is not high performance. 1965 was the first year production 130hp solex carb not exactly a GT2 but very respectable for the time. I track a 1967 912 now in 2008 and can hit 110mph on not so long straights. Sorry for your bad experience, perhaps time has clouded your memory of an otherwise fantastic icon.
