The cooling belt failed in 1998. I was 1/2 mile from a specialist who fixed the problem the same morning.
The car lost power, which turned out to be a belt on one of the distributors.
Electric mirror motors had to be replaced.
Having owned TVR 390SE, 400SE and Griffith 500 previously, I have been pleasantly shocked at the incredible build quality and performance - a Griffith 500 couldn't out drag the 911.
The car has 18" Speedlines which makes the ride a bit hard, but has amazing grip. Other mods include RUF exhaust and chip.
This is the first Porsche I have owned and am completely smitten with the marque. Next on the list will be the 993 Turbo 4 at the end of the year.
Are you sure about your Griffith 500 comment..?
I know for a fact that a Griffith 500 can do 0-60 in less than 4 seconds..
And the 911 carrera is, well..slow. it only has the 3.6 flat 6, and its not like its fast or anything,,...so take it back..!!
Have to agree: I would like to see a normally aspirated 993 Carrera 2 out-drag a Griffith 500. In short, it won't happen. Sure, the TVR is by far the nastier car in terms of build quality, but on a dry day it'll embarrass many a supercar. Sounds like one of the other Porsche mods not mentioned was official rose-tinted spectacles...
The 18" alloys are not approved by Porsche to use on the 964, you could be ruining your car. Plus, why on earth do you need 18" wheels?? To look pretty? Then go and buy a BMW!
