Had to replace door window seals as ones fitted were two inches too short!
Fitted new carpet throughout using the old carpet as a template, fitted decent soundproofing felt at same time which has helped road noise.
Planning to recover seats in leather very soon as the cloth and vinyl ones fitted are very soft and stained.
You get lulled into a false sense of security after driving for any distance, that is until you take a corner at speed and realize this car needs respect and concentration to drive safely.
Put you foot down in second and third gear when entering a motorway (freeway) slip-road, open the sunroof, wind the windows down... listen to the air cooled flat six engine, it doesn't get any better.
I cannot agree more, taking the car on the open road, windows and sunroof open, the sound of the brutal flat six is just orgasmic!
I have had my 82 SC for about ten years now and agree with the phrase commonly used,"bullet proof".The car really is built like a tank, but with the sexiest most recognizable body style on earth. Have had many sports cars over the years, and the Porsche 911 is definitely a keeper.
I just purchased a 1980 911SC (European version) with 157,000 miles. It's my first Porsche and I'm already in love with it and the marquee. (I've only had the car 3 days!)
It is so well built and put together that I'm still amazed that everything seems to work on the car as if it were new. It is so much fun to drive and listen to the motor spool up.
It certainly IS a keeper!

Indeed! I have a 1981 911 SC with 167,000 miles and it runs as strong as any car I have ever driven. With a reputation as a bulletproof, I would just as soon invest in rebuilds every 200,000 or so miles than by a common, less impressive ride!
