2001 Porsche 911 996 review from UK and Ireland
"Fantastic! Incredibly good value and always sure to bring a smile to your face"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing A superb quality engineered 996 Carrera 4.
General comments?
This car has exceeded my expectations in both performance and reliabity. The 996 is now undisputedly a better car than the previous Porsches, as explained in previous reviews the fact that its now water cooled, has a better, more comfortable interior, handles better, is more predictable, takes bends faster is testimony to Porsche and evoloving engineering.
I love the fact that the 911 996 is now one of the few truly super cars that can be used for daily use. I am also frustrated when I read other reviews from individuals who say this is not a real porsche cause its not air cooled etc...ridiculous. That's like my Dad arguing that his old 1969 Mini Cooper is somehow better than the newer ones... ofcourse its not...that's just nostalgia from some fanatical engineering techie that is probably missing the whole point of what owning one of these cars is about... performance and fun. The 996 911 is a superb car, so are the 993's in fact all porsche are &were pretty spectacular in their day. So welcome the new breed of Porsche with open arms...it's a better car.
