1994 Porsche 928 GTS review from North America
"Expensive, but super comfort, performance and looks"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Needed some electrical switch clean-up when I got it (just switch cleaner), although the driver's side mirror memory still doesn't work.
New clutch at 40,000.
Front wheel alignment vastly improved the handling & tire wear.
Fix engine oil leak/drip at 41,000.
General comments?
Great car! Best of all the 928's, huge engine output, great handling, beautiful & really comfortable too.
I had always wanted one - but it took ~4 years to find a late model in good condition with a manual transmission (one of <100 imported that year, with probably < 1/3rd being manuals).
Great driving experience, but a complex car with lots to go wrong (power everything) & anything that needs to be replaced/repaired is expensive.
Fuel consumption at about 14 MPG (US) makes this expensive as a daily driver (Europe!!), but it's so much fun it's hard to resist.
My dealer in Phoenix is actually very good - even with 928's - but still very expensive. Mostly I use good local specialist shops.
Part of the fun of owning one is joining the Porsche Club (of America), and getting together with other owners.
