This is a very good car. Actually this is the best car I have ever owned. These cars were very reliable when they were new. But now to keep them roarin' down the street they need a lot of attention, (which means they need a lot of money). That is the only qualm I have with this car; the fact that almost ever single part costs an arm and a leg. But this car looks so beautiful and drives so well, I am prepared to spend all the money I have on it! This car is actually very fast. It takes a good driver to get it to go fast. Add a few porformance modifications and these cars fly. I added some ignition upgrades such as... MSD and jacobs. I added a K&N cone filter, shortened the throttle cam, Put a performance Bursch exhaust system in, bored to cylinder head up to around 2.9 liters, added koni struts and shocks all around. Bosch plugs, and I am currently working on a supercharger. This car is fast, and throws everybody off because of it. I love this car, and never want to part with it. It is that simple.
PORSCHE- there really is no substitute.
Hi. Was looking for articles specifically about 944S exhaust mods. Do you have information about a Bursch (rear) muffler for a 944S? Many suppliers have info about the regular 944 and Turbo, but not much info about the 944S. Thanks... JAZ email: jaz_944@hotmail.com.
I have a 1987 944, a very good looking car. I have been trying to find a K&N cone filter, and a supercharger for it. I guess I just don't know the right site to go to. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly apperciated. mjewson@yahoo.com.

I also am working on a supercharged 944. Its refreshing to see someone else doing this. I hear comment about I should have bought a turbo. Why, to maintain a turbo is absolutely ridiculous. Look at ebay and all the people selling the turbos because its costs. Plus, why would I want my turbo to break apart and end up in the motor. Superchargers don't do that. Any info on your success would be great.
I own a 85.5 944 and I would love to have a turbo, but hey, I know me and me ain't rich. The parts are insane and I see nothing wrong with supercharging an n/a 944. Whoever thinks that you are stupid for wanting to, must have lost a race to an n/a or something.
Later!
Hey guys / gals.
I have an 84 NA we bought new that currently is clocking around 80K. The car is mint and I have just invested / installed adjustable springs, adjustable Konis front and back, 951 sway bars, replaced all suspension bushings, installed Zimmerman drilled rotors front and rear with Wildwood 4 piston fronts and bought some 17" Mille Miglia C2 cup knock offs from Tire Rack that don't require spacers with 225X45X17 front and 255X40X17 rear and then dropped it down about an inch. I need POWER. Anybody out there done a successful supercharger that has held together? I am leaning towards the Speed Force Kit with 6 lbs boost and an intercooler with a Bursch exhaust and new injectors as well as having the head gone over. I know it's a waste of money, but I don't care, we bought the car new and it has served us well. I just would like to get another 50-60 RWHP and not torch the transaxel. I am feeling very inadequate with my wife driving her 98 M3.
Thanks:

I heard that because of the porsche's strong transmissions, and their extremely low comprssion ratios (944's only), that you can add a supercharger with about 17 psi without harming it. This would almost triple the horsepower.
Well, I would trust SFR on there superchager kit. reason being is that they did A lot of R&D in there supercharger kits, so I just see that as MORE than worth it. on top of that, yeah, it takes a fast driver to make this car really fast, but I too would go with a supercharger. It's a linear amount of boost that doesn't vary with exhaust temps and exhaust pressure and how much exhaust is spining the turbine. It's a trustworthy amount of boost that isn't near as hot as air coming from a turbo compressor. its also better for throttle responce. yes, that's right, the only thing the supercharger isn't better than a turbo at is throwing that air. turbos can throw more boost, it's a fact. but superchargers are, lighter, more reliable, more compact, easier to work with, and are better for everyday driving AND track driving. Leave the turbos at the drag strip. The only people who can make turbos work right are mazda (13b engine) porsche (any turboed engine) subaru (look towards the EJ20 or most recent EJ25 semi closed deck). but that's just my oppinion. My view is, which would I want, would I want to have to wait for my boost through a corner, or entering a straight away with a corvette? no, I want it now. superchargers, the right decision.
Theres a SC 944 on ebay right now.
At last, fellow 944 owners with the same desire as me, to fit a supercharger. I've been all over the Internet looking for info on this subject. I own a 1987 2.5 16v 944s, and after a crash (just body damage) have been bringing it back to its former glory. I always found that it wasn't as pokey as I would have like, so wanted some way of improving that, and I think this is it.
Any information at all on what supercharger, how much, ease of fitting, what to avoid, ANY info would be greatly appreciated. You can email me on lukebrowne@live.co.uk
Look forward to hearing from you fellow Porsche victims.
Hi, I am 16 and I am receiving a 1984 Porsche 944. I would like to give it a little extra power, preferably by way of a supercharger. However, I have looked and looked and not found anything. If someone could give me some help, it would be greatly appreciated.
If you want a beastly supercharger I would definitely buy one from Rotrex. The fastest car in the world runs two of their chargers at 1018 horse power. The Konieggsigg or something. Anyways, they specifically make one for the 944 that gives raw power. Check out their website and how it works. Insane.
