I have owned my Cabriolet for 3 years now. Apart from general servicing (including new brake discs and pads), the only thing that has gone wrong is that the differential had its internals destroyed when a bearing inside broke. This was fixed under manufacturers warranty. These cars are extremely reliable if properly maintained and serviced, don't skimp or it'll really hurt your pocket.
A true Porsche in every sense, don't worry about comparisons to the 924, people don't know unless they have driven one and let's face it, most people have never even SAT in a Porsche so comments should be treated with the respect they deserve. The Cabriolet model is different to the Coupe in that not only does the top drop electrically (no pun intended!), but the rear styling is completely different with a classically designed flat & square back end, in fact many times passers-by have commented on the nice Ferrari they think I'm driving past in, I really don't mind the car being mistaken for a Ferrari even though I love Porsches!! This car is fast, it can beat 911's (non-turbo) which are older than about 1987 so performance is very respectable. Not only that but the weight distribution is 50/50 making it one of the best handling cars of all time - important when you consider that prohibitive speed limits in the UK mean that top-speed isn't really exploitable (if you want to keep your license that is!). Every time I drive this car I get a big stupid grin on my face - not many cars can have that effect.
Thank you.
I am in the market for a 944 S2 Cabrio and would like to know if any of the 1989-1992 models have air con or climate control? Also, I would love any tips or things to look out for before buying? Where would I also find a good garage who can service and maintain my car properly without going to a Porsche dealer?
The S2 cab is one of the best cars I have owned I had a 1990 had it for over 2 years had no problems just service it well and keep on to of it it will go forever it also looks great unlike the coupe which has dated quickly and the 0 to60 and top speed well match the boxster I have now.
Hello Gentlemen
I have just purchased a 944 Cabby S2 1990.
I previously has a 944 lux for 8 years and was very pleased with it. Very reliable.
I believe the clutch on the cabby is close to breaking, I have seen prices ranging from £255 to Porche £439 (reduced to £350) has anyone used a pattern part (clutch) and are they reliable?
Does anyone know of a local (Essex) Independent specialist in Essex?
Thanks guys and thank you to steven for the site.
Adam.

Hi
I have just bought a 944 cabriolet and I would welcome comments on the rather heavy steering.
Is this the norm and does anybody have vibriation through the steering . This vibriation disappears at 80mph
Thanks
Steady Eddie.
