1985 Porsche 944 review from Slovenia
"Love - hate relationship"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch had to be replaced (whole)
Great deal of seals and gaskets deteriorated.
Engine mounts had to be replaced (left one second time since car was made).
Belts and tensioners replaced.
Break disks replaced.
All kind of fluids and oil had to be changed.
Exhaust rubber hangers went bad.
Two dead batteries (battery discharged if car not driven in couple of weeks).
Rear hatch leak.
Muffler nearly out.
Paintwork faded (a lot!)
Fuel meter shows 0 when car warms up.
Cabin circulation air hatch twitches when engine starts... etc etc.
General comments?
Handles quite well (nicely balanced).
Nice interior (leather seats, steering wheel)
Makes to much noise.
Rear seats are nearly useless for an adult person.
High insurance costs.
Since not a Turbo, any AUDI, BMW, Mercedes, all kinds of TDis DTDis, CDIs, HDIs JTDs, VVTis, even 20V Skodas, goddamn Clio Sport, VR6es
are quicker then this kind of Porsche (until you get 5000 rpm). Hardly worth the badge on bonnet.
Prices on spare parts are sky high.
Dealership service over-prized greatly.
Have to be a masochist if you own one!
Don't buy one if car wasn't serviced well.
