1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S review from North America
"German engineering for a low price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front timing and balance shaft tensioners and pulleys were all mangled, as were front seals and head gasket when purchased ($4000).
70000 miles radiator cracked ($350)
76000 miles clutch worn badly ($750)
General comments?
Not for the financially unstable as large costs can arrise suddenly and unexplanably. Car had 250Hp stock, I have a autothority stage 2 chip, boost controller, removed catalytic converter, added B+B exhaust and added a k+n cone filter setup. Dynoed at 317Hp and 328 Ft/Lbs. Extremely quick car now, I own a 2001 corvette and I am certain it would keep up to if not beat it in every way. A great sleeper car as it is a bronze color and people always think its just another crap 924-944. These cars would be worth $35000-$40000 if they didn't have such high maintanence costs.
