2001 Porsche Boxster review from UK and Ireland
"An amazing everyday sportscar"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At 12,000 miles, the car broke down in Italy due to a faulty cooling system vale. However, the service from Porsche was expedient and after a free nights hotel stay it was motoring again.
General comments?
The 2.7 Boxster, on paper, is far from the fastest in its sector, however it is the best handling by a wide margin.
Grip is amazing and balance even better, making it very forgiving in the situations you sometimes encounter when you enjoy driving - even in the wet.
Having covered more than 17,000 miles in the car in the past 18 months, many of these on French and Italian mountain roads, I can truly saw that this is also one of the most versatile and comfortable long distance cars I have ever driven.
Even after 500+ miles trips you do not feel 'beaten', as I have experienced in other sportscars.
Luggage space is ample for even a couple of weeks of driving holiday, though the capacity for bulky souvenirs will be limited.
