2002 Proton Impian X review from Malaysia
"Too many better choices around"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Glove box broken
electric mirrors short circuited
instrument panel lights broken
interior lights broken
lumbar support adjustment broken
climate control inaccurate
check engine lamp on
battery failed 20 000km
rear seat back detached
suspension continually creaks
steering vibration at high speed although wheels balanced
electric windows jammed
exterior mirror black paintwork chipping.
Interior dashboard screws loose causing rattling when cornering.
General comments?
A car with good basics - low maintainence costs, good handling, good fuel economy (9l/100km) combined city and highway motoring.
The leather seats are inviting, but prove to be uncomfortable during long distance driving.
Too many faults, although tolerable, to recommend this car as a viable purchase. The mitsubishi drivetrain is reliable, and there have been no serious engine / drive train faults.
Warranty is short and ran out in 1 year.
Service centers are too busy dealing with warranty claims and an average service takes the whole day!!!
Service intervals too short (every 5000kms if you want to satisfy warranty requiremments)
