"Wait for the price to drop more"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The car looks nice, but the engine is 1997 year old mitsubishi.

ABS is standard, but over the years no extra safety features like airbag added.

Car had problems with timing belt and was told it was wrongly connected from the beginning.

Car handling is not as good as Waja.

Pick up needs to be improved as slow despite V6 engine.

New Perdana V6 looks the same except for a facelift, but engine is still the 1997 mitsubishi.

Hopefully, the long awaited campro engine will arrive before 2005.

General comments?

Except for price and V6, there is nothing fascinating.

My Perdana V6 has problems with the power window. The pick up is slow and sometimes a 1.6 litre corolla can easily overtake my v6.

L was hoping the new v6 will have a better engine, but to my dismay, the engine is the same as the older model.

The older v6 has reasonably good suspension and l wonder if Lotus tuned suspension will make a significant difference as the suspension is the same model.

The malaysian government will continue to protect its car industry after AFTA, but l hope one day proton will be penalised.

L hope too one day proton will taste its own medicine when Thailand becomes stronger.

My perdana automatic transmission went into malfunction resulting in damage to my timing belt. This would not have happened if they have fixed it properly when l told them about my trasmission problem a year ago. l am saving for a perodua or second hand honda.

The V6 seems to be under powered compared to the Japanese version of Athena. Though is it not a turbo engine, but the performance and pick up is rather better.

Really need to fine tune the car to be more responsive and more efficient in fuel economy.

I have 2 cars, one is BMW 3 series 2000 model for myself and one is Perdana V6 2003 Model for my GF. Obviously, the V6 performance is better than the BMW 3 series (Perdana owner, don 't be so exited, this could be because of the BMW more heavy due to a strong body) but it is so noisy even when I was driving at 100KM/Hour. And it has jerking problem...

I own a 2001 perdana v6 model. I bought it at the end of 2004 and within just 1 year, I had to replace 2 damaged gearboxes. I was really upset!!! the performance and was really remarkable at first, but as I time goes, what I can conclude is, it was just a car that has a v6 engine. the gearbox really needs to be pampered... every 3 months, routinely, I need to do the gearbox oil change!!! after the routine service, the performance is tremendous... but now, I had installed aslightly used mitsubishi eterna gearbox. currently, I'm satisfied with the performance!!do you know what the real problem is?? the gearbox rod is too fragile... easily damage...it was the main cause of the gearbox problem. I had learnt from my lesson... so prevention is definitely better than cure!!!

I owned 2000 PP v6. as mentioned by the previous viewer, the gear box after 100K km will giving abnormal symptom, first auto-gear changing is rough. Second the RPM is moving in consistent, caused the fuel consumption very high.

Futher to that, fuel injection, make the car jerk which caugth the diver in surprise.

Really would like to see Proton is going to do something with the problem of the national car that has executive model status.

Worry PPv6 owner.

I own a 2000 Perdana V6 bought in May 2001. Now I have problem with the OD, or is it the gear box - it does not work anymore. Now the gears only shift up to 3rd. Of course the rpm is high and, therefore, fuel consumption. When I press the OD button the gears do not shift down when I slow down to stop. Can anybody suggest what might be the problem and what I need to do to correct it?

I own a 2003 Proton Perdana V6 also, and I know why the gearbox is easy to damage, is because of the gear oil, easy to get over heat when you run for long distance. You must install a oil cooler in front of the radiator, so that it can cool down your gear oil temp, and don't forget to change your gear oil every 5000km.

My Perdana suspension broke, beware older perdana owners, please check your suspension especially the lower arm of the front wheel.

The transmission fluid needs to be changed very frequently, some say every 15000 KM or your gear box goes.

I have a 1995 Perdana and it is giving excellent service. No problems with the gearbox nor suspension. Mileage now 225,00km. Consumption OK, brakes excellent. Low maintenence. Only problem with the alternator as I had change a few of them, even when new. Guess it is the supplier's fault. No charge, yet no indicator light showed up.

Come on, it is a Mitsubishi, and it is not that bad.
