There's a lot going on behind Proton doors and mostly these are not let out to the general public.
Having seen many new Proton (and some other brand / make) cars, especially unregistered ones on the way to be delivered to dealers on Malaysian roads being driven recklessly & speeding makes us wonder if some poor owner would end up with these cars.
There is one of several instances whereby a brand new unregistered Proton car ended up in a ditch while another "turned-turtle" after several of these cars were seen chasing each other on the NKVE Malaysia some time ago.
We've also found some new Proton cars that had some "minor" defect here-and-there but these were left un-noticed or had so-called PASS their QC & being delivered to unsuspecting owners. Unless some accident happen, otherwise these are potential accidents waiting to happen.
We'd really hate to see this going on quite frequently, but unfortunately, there is nothing these ignorant owners can do about it.
I live in Thailand and going for a new proton neo car soon but after reading your comments, I have a second thought about it. I would like to buy M/T one and sale man also told me that there will be a new proton neo car on this October with NGV. What do you think? Give me comment, it would be really useful for me.
I am from Malaysia and I own Satria Neo. People say Proton sell quality cars for the international market but not for Malaysia. I am not sure about it since I never had a chance yet to drive Proton cars which they export to UK or Australia and even Thailand.
This is a comment from a Malaysian who owns a Satria Neo. The car handles well, which I am impressed about, very fast on straight lanes, but poor pick up and the quality is disaster. After one year you will here some irritating noise here and there, especially door panels, dashboard and folded back seat. The absorbers definitely have to change. So it's up to you.. :)
The original reviewer said, "I can't pay 300% tax for other cars"
As far as I know, Malaysia impose only 80% taxes for foreign cars..
I've Satria Neo CPS.. so far, no rattling sound, no poor quality and yet, still no problem.. very happy with this car.. For Thai's, go for it man, those Satria Neos in Thailand were a 2nd batch, so Proton's already rectify the common problems and fix it.. New CamPro CPS engine was ROCK!! I'm frequently smoking Vios, Altis 1.6 and Citys.
Ya, wonder the Proton QC will improve after the chairman had changed...
I am also thinking to get a NEO CPS (Black) M/T...
Dude, share more of your NEO CPS experience
- Model? A/T?M/T? Black?White?
- Fuel consumption?
- Performance?
- Build quality?
I have been driving Proton Satria Neo since 2006. I constantly drive fast and the car been involved in 2 major accidents. Still love the car. No major problems apart from the regular wear and tear even after the accidents. And I still drive fast cause this car can really handle the abuse :)
I'm currently using a Neo CPS..
Handling, speed, and cruising are fantastic... But the fuel consumption is really poor..
I don't know how to describe it, but I get the feeling of regretting buying it if the fuel consumption rises..
