Steering wheel shake/tyre balancing problem.
Electric static/shock on drivers door-when making toll payment.
Engine stalls when changing gear after hard acceleration.
Leaky carburettor.
Fuel gauge sensitive to electrical load-when the gauge indicates half tank (50%),then you switched on the air-cond or operate the power window, the gauge will go down to a quarter (25%).
One thing that amazed me about Tiara's is their ability to fly over bumps at high speed. At 80 km/h in 4th gear through speed bumps & the suspension just emits "dut, dut" sound. Useful when ur driving on a unfamiliar road where speed bumps are not so visible. Forget about kancil or iswara, its even better than those 2 litre class Japanese cars. Many people were also surprised when I showed them the
"fly over bumps" experiment. The only other car as I remembered that can perform the same stunt was a
Peugeot 504! I was enjoying it at first, but later it turn me into a devil! Just imagine having to slow down & shift into 1st gear just like the kancil or iswara in front of me going over a speed bump, sometimes overtaking other cars while flying over bumps, he..he..!
I too have a Tiara 1997. Please be aware that going over potholes at high speed can actually deform the wheels. I once hit a huge pothole, there was a loud thud sound, but the Tiara remained straight on course.
Much later I found that the front wheel was bent, but no problems else where.
For about RM 50 each wheel you can send your wheels for straightening. I paid RM180 for 4 wheels. The car drives great now.
This car is a grossly underestimated car in Malaysia.
Nothing touches the Peugeot 504s. This car is over 40 years in terms of design, but it can still kick the butt of the local cars especially on the B roads. Take any corner in a 504 and feel how she holds on to the road. It's the best.
