I spend almost RM 30,000 to repair my car for six years. Trust me, this car is really terrible. I had to change the suspension every year.
The alarm is too sensitive so I disconnected it one weak I bought it.
But who cares??? No one is going to steal this car.
The look of this car is really terrible, especially the rear of the car. It looks like a car at 80`s.
Poor chassis. The handling is more terrible than a kancil.
Poor performance and weak engine. Low torque especially at low RPM.
Expensive spare parts.
I prefer to buy a kelisa with better handling, performance, comfort power stearing, fuel injecttion and a better look.
I regraded for buying this car.Don`t buy a second hand of this car. You knows whats wrong for selling this cheap.
The value for Proton Tiara is decreasing seriously between the other products from Proton. So that, i think Proton Tiara is most terrible of Proton products.
The market value for a Tiara has dropped to about RM5000 per piece. The Tiara was considered one of the biggest flop for proton. Same thing can be said about Juara. When Tiara came out of production, they were literally using ten-year old engine.

Guys I really don't agree with you!
This car is nice! It has power! And if you know how to use it, it doesn't broke often... My car for 5 years have overheated once... The drive shalf is not a big problem.. It doest brake often unless you spin your tires too much. I have used my tiara for a very long time and I am very satisfied with it. It's a small car, but its powerful! And compare to kancil its much better then the kancil! Kancil is too small and no power at all!! So how can you say kancil is better? And the tiara look is much nicer then kancil!
Well I don't care what other people say, but I love this car!Its small, comfortable and powerful!
Tiara is the only Proton product I have bought. Well it is actually a rebadged Citroen AX. In terms of handling, it beats the other Proton models hands down. And to say that, the handling is far superior than a Perodua Kancil (which is a rebadged Daihatsu Mira. You can say the Kancil is EASIER to drive than a Tiara because the Kancil is smaller and has smaller turning radius. To say the Kancil handles better than a Tiara is simply wrong. The first commenter may have chosen a worng word in descriding how the Tiara drives...
If you think a Kancil handles better than a Tiara, try take a sharp 90 degree bend at 80kph in them, at one a time. While the Tiara managed to take the corner comfortably, the Kancil will shoot straight onto the oncoming traffic...
My Proton Tiara was given to me. It has served me faithfully. Thank God all the troubles that my fellow Proton Tiara owners had didn't happen to my car. However I fully agree that the cost of the spare parts is truly atrocious.
The other VERY SAD thing about the Proton Tiara is the GREAT DEPRECIATION value of the car.! Just imagine the initial value and the present value!
Payment with loan=55k
Present value less than 5k!
I've said goodbye to my beloved Proton Tiara (accident)- spare parts being so EXPENSIVE, the car was considered a total loss because to repair it would have cost the insurance company MORE than the market value for the car!
" Bad investment"
First of all, the car is a great car for the price you get it at. Spare parts are not expensive at all, but if you know who and where to buy it from can be rather cheap. I've just bought my Tiara and have had no trouble with it at all. I own a Citroen ZX and the Tiara is nippy to say the least. I don't feel safe in a Kancil. But the Tiara is and will always be safer than the Kancil.
Yes, I've seen a few Tiaras which had been involved in head-on collisions. When the front end all buckled up, the interior remains intact. This is not the case with other Mitsubishi-based Protons like Iswara and Wira, where usually the pedal box goes up, causing your legs to hit the steering column...
My brother had an accident in his Tiara (at that time fitted with AX GTi's 100bhp engine). Surpisingly the interior remained intact, no broken glass (and bones) either. That alone convinced me how much safer the Tiara is compared to other national cars and models. And that said, I believe the Tiara was made from thinner body panels than the original Citroen AX, because I found original AX body parts are thicker and stronger..
I have also seen similar accident-damaged Waja (Impian) - head-on collision. It is as good as the Tiara. Thumbs up! Perhaps Savvy also is that strong.
Does anybody know where is The place for tiara cars. what I mean is specialist in Tiara cars only.. and what kind of absorber to replace in Tiara cars?..if anybody know where is da place. plese sms me on 0173598439-mr imran.
I just bought a 1996 2nd hand Tiara from 2ndhand car dealer last week with a very very low price of RM3750/= including road-tax and insurance in Terengganu.
I bought the Tiara after reading a lot of positive and negative comments from this website. My cash for buying a car is 12k only. A friend of mine advise me not to spend all the money to buy one single car only. I accept his advice and thus forget the idea of buying an Astina for cash.
When I and my wife first saw a Tiara, at first I was afraid to buy this car because people said Tiara was a terrible car. But wife love the look of this car and she already negotiated the price and the dealer agreed to reduce from 5k to RM3750/=. Because the price was too low and I suspected that there must be something else inside the engine that the dealer wouldn't tell... I paid deposit RM50/= only.
Then I keep surfing on the net and lastly I found this website and read comments bout this car. Then I made decision buying this car based on positive comments were greater the negative ones.
After buying that car I send this Tiara to the foremen and the foremen said the engine is good and I need to change front absorber, alignment, balancing which cost me overall RM400/= only. Then because the car was so cheap, and I got extra money I can install LCD tv and dvd player. I feel great because even more expensive don't have Tv Yesterday I tested my tiara from Kuala Terengganu - Kuantan - Kuala Terengganu... I drove steadyly... no problem.. I can drive fast or slow. I can get home safe... and the aircond is cool... cooler than new waja aircond... or new wira...
Thanx for comments from this website community...
I hav bought tiara for two months and so far no prb at all and its performance is better than kancil and kelisa, so far I hav only changed xl shaft seal which cost me 60rm. this car is good and it goes faster.. I hav drove this car 130 to 140k/ph on LDP arnd 11 oclock. and lucky part is that its completely sound.. I bought it for 3200rm no work at all.
Even though I drive every fast, but I feel confident.
Thanks to this car,
i don't hav to worry abt the cost depreciation lolz...
I own a 99' proton tiara, I need to know where to repair mine.
i'm thinking of changing the engine, the absorber, and a lots more. i love the body.
I bought my tiara brand new in may '99. And until now, my tiara didn't bring any trouble to me except some sleepy old man crashed my tiara from behind (at melawati junction, in the year of 2000) and I had to leave my tiara for repair in about 2 month (insurance claiming process). So far my tiara served me good. I used to travel from kuantan to perlis (balik kampung) non-stop using the genting highland-batang kali route and tiara is one of a good performance car. I even make a 140kph turn at the karak-kl highway (beats all the luxurious car) at that time. I've changed the old plastic radiator into a metal (because of leakage). It's true the parts were quite expensive compared to other protons, but the life-span is longer. Since I live near the old AMM plant in pekan (where the tiara model were assembled), it's quite easy for me to look for the parts. But nowadays it's easy to find tiara parts compared to the early days 5-6 years back.
Don't blow your own trumpet. U think your Tiara can compete with Luxury cars such as Volvo, BMW, Mercedes? My Altis runs at 210KM/h as my top speed. Can your Tiara achieve this?
People are giving way to you instead of competing with you, do you understand?
Dude, why you getting pissed with his comment? it's just a figure of speech, I'm sure not literally. of course his tiara wouldn't be able to do 210km/h. it's only a 1.1cc car compared to your what, 1.8cc ride? that's a silly question from a guy who tried to show he's smart! maybe the other tiara's in town fitted with a 1.4gti engine could smoke you anytime!
Dude, you are right. Somehow needs to teach those people who lives under the coconut trees that there are skyscrapers exist in KL. He thinks that the coconut tree is the tallest of all in this world.
I still remembered one of the joke. A friend of mine went to Tiara showroom (during the 1st launch), when he walked passed a Tiara car, the bumper fell off to the ground. The crowd inside the showroom was astonished!!!
I have no means to look down on those people who cannot afford to own good cars, but, do not trying to blow their trumpet. Empty barrel makes the loudest noise.
My car is Altis 1.8L, good car !
