Starter motor bracket broke several times.
Rust was always a problem in many areas, especially the floor.
Several CV joint changes.
I have owned several vehicles since my Renault, but it still rates as one of the most comfortable cars on a long journey.
The car would simply go anywhere, and was not fussed by rough terrain.
Though not very quick (145km/hr tops) once accustomed to the roll and softness, the car really handled well.
I think overall, this model was ahead of it's time, and this is what made it different and stand out from the crowd.
I own a 1970 Renault 12 TL which is still in very good condition. Much has been said about its design, comfort, economy, reliability. I fully agree that it was far a head of its time and I don't even for a moment consider disposing of it now. I will maintain it and keep it till I keep it again.
