1985 Renault 25 GTX from Spain - Comments

"A very fast sofa"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Injection problems which never were repaired.

Oil leaks from manual gearbox.

On-board computer fault (petrol level).

Broken A/C.

General comments?

It's a very comfortable car and very fast too (200 km/h top speed). The only fault of the car is poor reliability and very bad service from the dealers.

I sold the car two months ago, but I continue to love it. I now have a Chrysler 300M, but.... it is not the same!

Gearbox in my 1985 leaked too even after the driveshaft seals were replaced. My fuel gauge is also inaccurate but it turned out to be the connector under rear seat near sender unit. I cleaned it. But reading can still be quite inaccurate especially when the tank is down to the last 10 to 20 litres. BUT it is a great car and has been 100% reliable for all 10 years I have owned it.

Hello!Yes I have a Renault 25 GTX 85.She has 145000k on the clock (timing chain replaced @ 138000k).White with elec sunroof, windows, air con. Central locking and air con need attension though. Computer has paranoid episodes from time to time and tells fibs like my lights not working when they are or I must get to my nearest service station or to turn motor off. Transmisson still good... she really kicks back and takes off like a rocket. I read that the auto trans usually do about 160000k before packing a sad.. depending on how you drive them. But she drives like a dream as former owners of this model would agree. sure footed with the grunt to put that to the test. A lounge chair on wheels. Rick NZ.
