1995 Renault Clio 1.4 RT review from UK and Ireland

Not had any major problems as such (touch wood!). Just general where and tear. The rear arches on all Clio 1's tend to be prone to rust, mine have just started to get very small bubbles on the very edge of the arch, but I am going to get them sorted and then underseal the lot!. You don't have to worry about the front though as they are galvanised. They other problem I had was the exhaust nocking under acceleration, but I had the mounts replaced witch sorted that out. I also had a bolt on the anti-roll bar replaced as it had lost the top bush and was lose on one side.

For a 1.4 its fast (80 bhp) and in standard form handles well too. I have had mine lowered, and got performance ignition leads, spark plugs and air filter and have the clio RSI wheels on it which vastly improves handling, road holding and looks.

The best thing is that its only group 5 insurance and has electric windows, power steering, remote central locking, electric mirrors, front fog lights, body coloured bumpers, air bag, rev counter and remotely controlled stereo with six speakers.

The seats are quite nice and comfortable, although they don't hold you

enough if your driving fast. The drivers seat has a lumber adjustment, and all the controls for windows etc are all to hand. A nice touch is a foot rest for your left leg so if your cruising on the motorway you're not putting your foot under the clutch. The boots big enough and fits my two ten inch subs in fine! and even has a bit of space left over. If your in to doing your stereo, then you will be happy to know the spare wheel is located under the car and not in the boot.
