After reading your article and driving Golf GTi's, Clio 172s, Porsches and other Supercars I can agree that the Clio is Quick, Agile and Fun, but to compare the performance as Supercar like is a bit optimistic.
That the seating on a long journey is cramped - I would have to disagree, have you ever tried 3 nevermind 4 in any Porsche, Supra or other Supercar on a long jouney.
One last thing, I can't see the Clio 172 holding its value especially when new UK spec imported cars with the same spec are being sold for £12500 and a new model Clio is out soon.
Top Gear proved it could do 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, which puts it close to supercar catagory in my book!
Yeah but what about the Wiliams Clio - didn't that have residuals of around 60-70% after 3 years?

Why compare this little "bomber" against a supercar which it is not? Has anyone found a problem with the ABS system, a vibration type noise during pull away and stopping, sometimes when just driving along. I have this problem which the dealer I use in Slough seems to be having a problem with, they already have an Exclusive 172 in there with similar problems :(
Well i'v just put a turbo on my clio 172...taken it from a hot hatch to a super!! car.. 311 bhp at 14 psi 0 to 60 4.6... now that's what I call super car.. I can eat any car out there.
Keep dreaming... even if you have managed 311bhp out of that engine it will not do 0-60 in 4.6 seconds... front wheel drive cars just don't have the traction for it even if tey do have the power. i should know I've just turbo'd my honda integra type R to about 300bhp (est) and it only weighs 1060kg (lighter than clio 172 cup) and I have a LSD which the clio doesn't and I know my car would struggle to do it in that time... maybe 5.2 I estimate from 6.2 standard I think that's fair... but 4.6 is bit much I think.

Don't be silly, it won't go that fast! Its ltd to 220 mph.
To both people above, 14 psi isn't achieved from ktecs turbo kit, it's 12 psi and max bhp taken is 307 from their strongest kit.
To the second person saying it isn't achievable, it is as ktecs demo car with LSD, and race setup was timed at 4.73 0-60.
