After first getting the car it ran great for the first few months then SERV and Airbag light on faulty repaired at renault. Then again as soon as the passenger seat was moved SERV and Airbag then followed by the yellow engine faulty light. The car kept cutting out whilst running in busy traffic. Took this to renault no problem found, but thanks for your money.
Then the cutting out became really bad final the TDC? sensor was faulty fixed not cut out since and airbag fixed again.
Just the other day was driving down the road and airbag light yet again appears followed by the electronic light. car says stops restart it the car is fine until I start driving and it won't go over 20MPH. So at the moment I am sat at home awaiting a phone call about my car from the garage.
Really enjoyed having my car, but not the faults I have had with it. Renault doesn't help as they never have any space to get you in for days and when you do go you end up waiting around for hours whilst your car sits waiting for someone to look at it.
So to sum my clio up it is really nice to look at and drive when things are all going right, but when things go its embarrassing to be on the road with. so when things start to go wrong it time to get rid and start over. Also ordered a new car today, but not from Renault.
Hi, my girlfriends clio has exactly the same problems. The tdc sensor had to be replaced because it occassionally wouldn't start. Then the airbag and serv light have been coming on. Renault tell me they are both common faults. In the case of the serv light the connector under the passenger seat for the passenger seat seatbelt stalk comes loose and henceturns on the serv and airbag light as they are both linked to the safety system. I've advised my girlfriend to get rid of this awful car and buy a Micra! Clios are nice little cars to drive, but the build quality is a disgrace!
Hi, my daughter has just bought a 2002 clio 1.2 extreme and it developed an electrical fault. The orange fault light came on and the car wouldn't go over 20mph (could be fatal on a motorway!) 5 weeks at the renault agent, and they could not diagnose the fault accurately, and resorted to 25 year old technology (by changing parts until the fault was cured). I am now £600 pounds lighter and very tired of poor service from renault.
If you break down in Leeds, push it out of town; it will be quicker to get repaired, or perhaps just torch it on the spot. I would rather stick pins in my eyes than have another renault experience.
My daughter's 2001 Clio 1.2 16v has all of these problems.
I will take it to an auto electrician, as Renault only change parts until its fixed. They have no idea, but only do what the computer says & don't use common sense & look for chaffed looms, loose metal, box on throttle body which chafes through loom or cleaned out, poorly designed throttle body. I never trust main dealers. Once out of warranty, don't go to them.
