1999 Renault Clio RXE review from Croatia
"Great all rounder best suited for two"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
V-belt skipped a prong at 95000km causing 600£ repairs such as belts changes, valves tune up,
rear exhaust and catalyst change (allegedly a common
fault with 1.6 8v 90hp Renault engine)
Passenger side wheel bearing crushed, 60£ cost repair.
Drivers side doorstep corroded, repainted under warranty.
General comments?
The car was a pleasure to drive as well as it was to look at.
Looked extraordinary with standard alloyed rims and silver metallic chassis.
The engines strong point was taking the car to a 100 km h mark from a 0 km h start.
The maintenance cost rose as the car drove close to 100000 km, but still was rather affordable for a students budget, and left a certain feeling that it would run effortlessly for another 100000 km.
The placing of the passengers in the rear is cramped and therefore uncomfortable. The driver and the passenger in the front enjoy spacious environment, but wish for seats with better adjustment abilities.
The interior was of high quality material and craftsmanship as was expected of a premium equipment package RXE.
