1996 Renault Espace Alize from UK and Ireland - Comments

13th Aug 2001, 15:20

"Two months in the garage with no end in sight"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Heater matrix had to be replaced, twice.

Automatic gear box, cost to replace £1,700.

Engine management computer blew up, £800 to replace.

New fuse board required, including tracing fault, cost £300.

Front wheel collapsed, two months later, still waiting for a part from Renault UK - none in France, either.

General comments?

Renault appear unable to supply parts and do not seem particularly bothered about the extreme inconvenience and ongoing costs.

Will never, ever, buy a Renault again!!

As the owner of this vehicle, would like it known that it is now four months since this car was towed to the garage. Our Espace has not moved one inch in that time and Renault have informed us that the part is still not available and cannot even advise of a delivery date. Cannot say this loud enough - DO NOT EVEN CONTEMPLATE BUYING A RENAULT!!!

Follow up to the original review dated 13th Aug 01.

Car broke down in June 2001, needing a new drive flange. Has taken Renault exactly SIX months to supply this part and the car is only 5 years old! Only a letter to the Managing Director himself actually got the part delivered, all previous contact having been ignored.

In the two years we have owned this car, it has cost £7000 in repairs.

WE WILL NEVER, EVER BUY A RENAULT AGAIN.
