1998 Renault Grand Espace RXE review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
After 2 days old the carpets were wet. It had been very heavy rain and the roads were flooded, although that is no excuse. The problem was traced to a badly fitted door seal. 5 months later no re-occurrence yet!
Small rattle in dashboard developed after 4 weeks. I don't want to risk trying to get it fixed at the moment as this may make things worst.
3k miles and 5 months old, rubber seal on opening tailgate window has worked loose, this has still to be reported to the dealer.
Great car but I do have some doubts over build quality. Only time will tell.
I think I will take out the extended warranty once the 1 year is up. Come on Renault, most other companies offer 3 years.
General comments?
Grand Espace is great to drive. Comfortable with a lot of practical features built in. CD HiFi system great. Flexible seating has yet to be fully exploited. I have the 2 rear seats removed and this provides a huge flat boot space with easy loading. Excellent vehicle for families greater than 4, I have 5, but is expensive compared to a Ford Galaxy Ghia X for example. Grand Espace has a much large boot which was one of the main deciding factors in choosing this car.
Can't wait to go on a long holiday trip in the summer.
