2000 Renault Grand Espace Limited review from Luxembourg

3rd row seat belt clip came away.

Squeak from passanger side of dashboard.

Loose electric cable caused intermittent locking fault.

Dealer could have been better (some loose change didn't come back with the car).

After finding this site and reading a couple of comments on the Espace, I thought I would add my own. Although the car is only with me for 3 weeks, I notice I'm not the only person with a squeaky dashboard. Worrying. Couple of other niggling problems now fixed. Do I need to worry about long term reliability...? Car bought for size versus performance (relative to MPV's) - biggest car with 194bhp engine. Very pleased with handling, performance, versatility etc (again for an MPV). Version is a very high spec (equiv RXE in UK?) car although I still find that good ideas on my Galaxy, that I'm keeping as well, are missing (reversing 'radar'; one touch windows all round; heated front windscreen). Car is a company car so fuel consumption is not applicable to me, but I would not buy this car if I had to pay for petrol myself. Stereo is a let down (but then I'm spoilt by a very expensive aftermarket job in the Galaxy) but the handheld remote I think is a good idea. Had a MkII V6 Espace three years ago and liked it (bought the Galaxy as it was an offer too good to refuse) and (at the moment at least) I'm happy to be back driving a new improved one.
