1998 Renault Grand Espace review from Spain

When I bought the car it had 2 faults:-

1. Heater/ air-con control unit failed.

Replaced by Renault under warranty.

2. Noise on front shock absorber.

Renault said it was loose and fixed it.

One year later needed two new front shock absorbers, Spanish roads or original problem?

Noise on shock absorbers has reappeared, solved this problem by tightening them myself.

Clutch pedal started to stick, repeated

visits to Renault did not solve the problem, until it arrived on the forecourt on a tow truck.

Needed a complete clutch including the pedal.

One year later the clutch has started to stick again.

Renault have greased it.

Airbag warning and service light remain on vehicle went into for service because of this and came out with the airbag and service light still on.

Complained to main dealer and they have replaced the airbag computer as they say it was faulty.

Renault in Madrid have no record of any problems with the Espace in regard to airbag computers or clutches.

In general it is a good car, very comfortable and versatile, it performs well.

But, we feel let down by Renault not recognizing obvious and common faults in clutches and airbag computers.
