Window mechanism broke on F/R drivers. Then a week later the O/S rear broke. 2 weeks later, the front passenger's broke.

The accelerator over revs.

Door locks have gone faulty.

ECU light kept coming on.

Kept getting told the car needs a service, even though just had it done.

General Comments:

Not as fast or racy as the diesel. The 1.6 just doesn't have it.

Still has the repair costs though. My 2004 Grand Scenic cost me more to keep running in 12 months than my previous car did in 5 years!

Reliable, strong and honest

12 Volt adapter in the cockpit is broken.

Lots of bulbs.

Some of the trim in the rear of the car is loose/worn.

Air con required re-charging after 12 months.

General Comments:

I have the commercial version (i.e it's a small van - no rear seats). It's a comfortable cruiser. Great on motorways and open roads, 6 forward gears. Lots of power available for acceleration and overtaking. Very economical. My running costs (fuel) have halved.

Seats very supportive. Nice driving position. Lots of storage space. I love the digital display. Air Con is OK for Ireland, but would suffer in a hotter climate.

Negatives: Braking in the wet is tricky, as the front wheels tend to lock. Not the most exciting vehicle, but does the job well. The view when reversing is not great, and I have scratched the bumpers a few times.

Original owner again. 55000Km. Engine still running very well. Front right driver's shock is leaking oil, and is to be replaced. Both rear brakes have to be replaced, wear tolerance is very low on these. Expensive jobs.

Front lights failing repeatedly, despite replacing bulbs.

Love driving this car, but faults are beginning to put a strain on our relationship.

Very good

Rear windscreen shattered. Reason unknown.

Neighbour was outside and heard a loud 'POP', then the alarm went off.

He looked around the corner, but no one was around.

Close inspection would appear to show that the window and blown from inside out.

Very little glass on the inside (until the policeman shut the door too hard!!) His view is that it has exploded inside out, so did not record as a crime.

Spoke to a garage mech who has seen similar, but not on rear windscreens.

An excellent second-hand family car buy

Air conditioner performs poorly in our hot climate. It doesn't blow air powerful enough, although the temperature settings seem OK. Hence second and third row passengers suffer terribly on hot days.

Engine sounds a bit coarse when revved. Fuel consumption is quite high for city traffic at 13.5 - 15 ltr / 100 km, but it gets much better to 7 - 8 ltr / 100 km on highway driving. I wonder what makes such a significant difference.

Minor squeaks from door areas when vehicle is on a steep slope.

Radio reception is weak.

Packaging makes it difficult for DIY works around the engine bay area.

Brakes aren't strong enough.

Poor depreciation if bought new.

General Comments:

Bought this car for wife's daily commute as an interesting alternative to small hatches. She didn't like it at first (due to size) but came full of praises after few days of driving it herself.

The seats are very supportive and well contoured; great for either short or long journey. Excellent build quality, extremely flexible seating arrangements, numerous electrical goodies and safety features often amaze people who are not familiar with the make.

Ride is firm yet still pleasant, though this may be attributed to the Koni shock breakers installed by the previous owner. He said the stock ones are too soft and spongy.

Overall we're very satisfied with this car and looking forward to put many years of service into it.
