2002 Renault Laguna Privilege review from Australia and New Zealand
"This car is an unreliable lemon!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Faulty:
Smart keys (3 replaced), smart card ignition sounds like a ticking bomb.
Electric seats becoming very noisy.
Battery (replaced 3 times).
Parking sensors (don't work).
Engine mounts.
Oil leaks.
Brake pads.
Cracked seals.
Windows.
Engine belts.
Coils (5 replacements).
The engine makes a grinding noise when going over bumps.
Thick black smoke has come out of the exhaust pipe on some occasions, and basically everything else mechanically has been replaced.
General comments?
The car looks great and CAN sound great with a lot of grunt.
However, after almost $12,000 of repairs the car still has problems which are not acceptable. If this is what is happening to the car at 79,000 kms, I am going to hate to see what it will be like after 100,000 kms. The car is unreliable and is basically a lemon!
We are getting rid of it and thinking of buying a Volvo Cross Country (which we should have done in the first place). The car holds its value like a cheeseburger
